Sweet Pongal recipe

Sweet Pongal recipe 

Sweet Pongal recipe is a south Indian specialty dish. This Sweet Pongal recipe is generally made on special occasions. We can also make this Sweet Pongal recipe 
As a sweet treat in our meal.

To make sweet Pongal is very easy. Just it takes some time to reduce milk in half quantity and for roasting the moong dal.

So, let's start the recipe,
Prep time: 5 minutes,
Cooking time: 60 minutes,
Total time: 65 minutes,
Servings: 20 people,

Ingredients:

Milk 2 liter,
Sugar 3 cups or 300 gms,
Moong dal 2 cups or 200 gms,
Nutmeg or jayfel powder 1 teaspoon,
Dry fruits 1 cup  (optional),
Desiccated coconut 1 cup (optional).

Instructions:

1. First, collect all the ingredients.
2. Soak the moong dal for ½ an hour.

3. Then wash it well and grind it in a mixy jar.

4. Ground moong dal.

5. Switch on the gas flame and put a non-stick kadhai on it.

6. Now pour 2-liter milk in it.

7. Let simmer the milk to become it half in quantity.

8. On another side put another kadhai on the flame.

 9. Add 4 tablespoon ghee into the kadhai.

10. When ghee gets melted, put the ground moong dal into the ghee.

11. Now roast it till it changes its color.
And cover it.

12. In-between check the milk how much it simmered.

13. Roast the moong dal continuously so that it couldn't stick to kadhai.

14. When moong dal get roasted completely then, switch off the gas flame and keep it aside.

15. Now check the condition of our milk.

16. Now, add 3 cups of sugar in it.

17. Mix it well so that all sugar dissolves in the milk.

18. Now add the roasted moong dal in the milk and again stir it continuously till all milk get thickened.

19. Now switch off the gas flame.
20. And add nutmeg powder in it and mix it well.

21. Now our Pongal is ready.

22. Keep it to cool completely after cooling for some time it becomes thick in consistency as in given below picture.

23. Now serve it cool by garnishing some dry fruits on it.

24. Here I do not use desiccated coconut you can use it when we are simmering the milk at the time just before we are adding sugar in it.
25. And roast the dry fruits in ghee and add it at last just before adding nutmeg powder.
